About

A career shaped by range, pressure, and unusually high standards.

Bryan Loss built credibility across creative work, frontline operations, analytics, program leadership, product development, and founder execution. The range is not a detour. It is one of the reasons he sees the work differently.

Overview

Bryan Loss built an uncommon career on purpose: from professional audio engineering and studio leadership into field operations, business operations, advanced analytics, program delivery, senior product development leadership, and founder-led product building.

Timeline

Each chapter feeds the next.

Music sharpened taste and precision. Field operations built resilience and systems thinking. Analytics strengthened judgment. Product and founder work pulled it together.

Audio Engineering

2004 - 2011

Learning standards in rooms where quality was obvious

Bryan built his early career in music and studio environments, delivering audio engineering, mixing, production support, studio maintenance, and technical troubleshooting where taste, speed, and composure were all visible in the final result.

  • Ran Bryan Loss Co. as an independent audio engineering and production practice.
  • Served as Chief Audio Engineer at Four Seasons Media Productions.
  • Built the precision, calm, and client awareness that still show up in his leadership style.

Field Operations

2010 - 2019

Getting fluent in scale, pressure, and operational reality

At AT&T, Bryan moved into vendor leadership, field operations, network services, process, and quality roles where scale, coordination, accountability, and execution discipline mattered every day.

  • Led across Digital Life, U-verse field operations, network process, and quality.
  • Stayed close to frontline workflows, service realities, and operational dependencies.
  • Built credibility with operators, managers, vendors, and technical stakeholders alike.

  • Led in Associate Director roles for Business Operations and Advanced Data and Analytics.
  • Deepened strengths in process design, data fluency, requirements thinking, and structured decision-making.
  • Completed academic work in data management, analytics, and IT management with a 4.0 record.

Product And Program Leadership

  • Builds across iOS, Android, Firebase, AI, analytics, and commerce surfaces.
  • Pairs customer empathy with technical depth and design taste.
  • Keeps leadership instincts grounded in founder-level ownership and shipping velocity.

Why people remember it

Bryan's music chapter is often the conversation starter, and competition BBQ with Porch Smokers is another—but both matter because they help explain later strengths: polish, calmness under pressure, creative rigor, and sensitivity to how the final experience lands.

The studio work gives the story proof, but it also explains why Bryan still cares so much about polish, calm execution, and the quality of the finished experience.

Over and Over

Bryan played drums on Nelly and Tim McGraw's crossover hit, a rare proof point that the creative chapter was not small, local, or imaginary.

Remaking Vanilla Ice

Audio-engineering work tied to the VH1 special, reinforcing experience in visible, high-expectation production environments where the pressure was part of the job.

Competition BBQ

Another conversation starter—pit, smoke, and family at the American Royal.

Bryan is an award-winning BBQ pitmaster. With his family team Porch Smokers, he has competed in the American Royal World Series of BBQ for five consecutive years through 2025. The team grew out of a competitive household and pandemic-era restlessness looking for something to sink into together.

In their first year, Porch Smokers placed 19th in the National Turkey Federation turkey smoke at the contest. Since then the team has earned awards in other categories too, including baked beans and potato sides.

The weekend is treated as much as an annual family tradition as a cook-off: the priority is getting together, having fun, and catching up with friends made on the circuit over the years—not trophies first, though those are a nice bonus.

Current focus

At DIRECTV, Bryan leads business analysts in a role that depends on clean thinking, structured delivery, process fluency, and the ability to connect strategy, execution, and technical reality.
