Why people remember it
Bryan's music chapter is often the conversation starter, and competition BBQ with Porch Smokers is another—but both matter because they help explain later strengths: polish, calmness under pressure, creative rigor, and sensitivity to how the final experience lands.

In the room · 2004
The studio work gives the story proof, but it also explains why Bryan still cares so much about polish, calm execution, and the quality of the finished experience.
Over and Over
Bryan played drums on Nelly and Tim McGraw's crossover hit, a rare proof point that the creative chapter was not small, local, or imaginary.
Remaking Vanilla Ice
Audio-engineering work tied to the VH1 special, reinforcing experience in visible, high-expectation production environments where the pressure was part of the job.

Competition BBQ
Another conversation starter—pit, smoke, and family at the American Royal.
Bryan is an award-winning BBQ pitmaster. With his family team Porch Smokers, he has competed in the American Royal World Series of BBQ for five consecutive years through 2025. The team grew out of a competitive household and pandemic-era restlessness looking for something to sink into together.
In their first year, Porch Smokers placed 19th in the National Turkey Federation turkey smoke at the contest. Since then the team has earned awards in other categories too, including baked beans and potato sides.
The weekend is treated as much as an annual family tradition as a cook-off: the priority is getting together, having fun, and catching up with friends made on the circuit over the years—not trophies first, though those are a nice bonus.
Current focus
At DIRECTV, Bryan leads business analysts in a role that depends on clean thinking, structured delivery, process fluency, and the ability to connect strategy, execution, and technical reality.
Founder lens
WhiskeyMate keeps the builder muscle active: product strategy, mobile development, backend systems, AI, analytics, brand, and launch discipline all remain hands-on and close to the customer.
